COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSPD) -- Cinco de Mayo is one of the holidays that brings out extra patrols by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
"From 2007 to 2011 over 1/3rd of fatal-crashes were alcohol involved," said Sgt. Vincent Shirey.
Troopers will be looking for impaired drivers and crash-causing violations.
Shirey says these are the holidays that have a higher number of deadly and serious crashes. It's one reason he's urging people to designate a driver and plan ahead for how they'll get home if they plan on celebrating.
