Cleveland Chosen To Host 2016 RNC

The RNC Site Selection has chosen Cleveland to host the 2016 Republican National Convention. Cleveland was chosen over Dallas, who was the other finalist city being considered.

Senator Rob Portman praised the selection. In a statement released shortly after the announcement, Portman said "this is great news for Cleveland and our entire state. It's a unique opportunity to showcase the new Cleveland as one of America's great cities, and to bring dollars and hobs to Ohio. I am really proud of the way the Cleveland community has come together to support the first national convention in Ohio since 1936. The Cleveland community deserves the credit for making it happen. I'll continue to work closely with the Cleveland host committee and the RNO regarding convention planning to help whenever I can to ensure this is a successful convention."

A final vote will be held at the RNC's summer meeting next month.
